EMPLOYERS' FUNDS
A SUGGESTED LEVY QUIP AT HARBOUR BOARD "This is a remarkable letter," commented Mr. T. Bloodworth, at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board vesterday, when a letter was received from the Auckland Provincial Employers' Association stating that the income from the organisations building was not sufficient to meet the necessary expenditure and asking the board to agree to a resolution authorising the association to strike a levy up to 50 per cent of the subscriptions payable bv members. ' The letter added that such a levy would be used as a security only for the bank overdraft, it not being anticipated that it would be necessary to collect any of the amount. _ _ "Eor the Employers' Association to ask for funds in this way to fight my side is extraordinary," proceeded Jtfr. Bloodworth, humorously. "Suppose a similar proposal were to come from the Trades Hall, would that be entertained?" , "My answer to that, Mr. Bloodworth, would be that we are members of this association, not the Trades Hall," stated the chairman, Mr. T. B. Clay. The letter was received.
