WOMEN'S DIVISION

SOUTH AUCKLAND COUNCIL Branches of the Auckland South Provincial Council of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union report as follows: Morrinsville.—Town members were hostesses at the rocent meeting of the branch. Songs were sung by Mrs. Scales and Miss Rutland and the roll call was " My Happiest Day." The library was very popular and the exchange and pattern stall did good business. A resolution was passed: " Th.it in the opinion of this meeting it would bo in the interest of the community for all public halls to bo licensed." Huntly.—Delegates gave a report on the recent provincial council meeting. Sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Miss J. O'Sullivan. A competition, something new from something old, was held, in which Mrs. Sillick was first, Mrs. Bunill second and Mrs. Rogers third. Hostesses were Mesdames Fleury, Weatherspoon and Miss Fleming. Hamilton. —Mrs. Judd presided over a good attendance of members. Two demonstrations were given, one for papier mache, by Mrs. Davison, and another for pass© partout, by Mrs. Mullins. A number of articles of children's clothing, made from scraps by Mrs. Webb, were passed around for inspection and were a wonderful example of what can bo done by patience and skill. Mrs. Judd and Mrs. Jones spoke on some of the social problems of today. Good business was done at the market table. Pukeatua. —In flower competitions Mrs. Heddon gained first for the most artistic bowl of flowers, and Miss N. McKee for a vase of flowers. Mrs. Davey gained first prize for novelties made from odds and ends. Members attended a meeting presided over by Mrs. Buhner to finalise arrangements for a bazaar in aid of the new hall. Division members served afternoon tea.
