UNLICENSED DEALER
STOLEN RING PURCHASED A watchmaker and jeweller, Bernard Koorcinan, was charged in the Police Court yesterday with carrying on the business of a second-hand doalor without boing the holder of a licence. He pleaded guilty by lotter. Detective Mahood said that on October 8 he interviewed defendant in reference to a stolon ring which had been traced to defendant's shop. Defendant admitted having purchasod tho ring for 8s from a boy, aged 11. In a writton statement made to witness he said he bought tho ring for old gold. Ho understood from tho boy that his mother had sent him to sell tho ring and that their position was ono of genuine hardship. Defendant added that ho was a comparative stranger to New Zealand and was not conversant with tho law, but he now intended to apply for a second-hand dealer's licence. Tho ring would bo replaced. Tho magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, discharged defendant upon payment of 10s costs.
