The other day she visited the back premises of a fruit and vegetable shop owned by a Chinese and consumed a considerable- quantity of lettuce and young turnips, which had been carefully prepared for sale. Being driven front the vegetable shop and being subjected to unintelligible calumnies, she next turned her attention. to the adjoining confectioner's premises. Finding a door unfastened she pushed her way in and gave her entire attention to some slabs of block cake. Having consumed about 501b., which the owner valued at .12, the cow left. I for next effort was directed to a barrel containing Hour, but here sli" was unfortunate, for after sin; bad eaten a considerable quant it v. her owner found it necessary to applv to a chemist for medicine.
