NEW RADIO STATION
TRANSMITTER FOR IYA CALL MADE FOR TENDERS Tenders for tho supply of the transmitter for the new IYA radio station were called in Wellington on Saturday, according to a statement made by Mr, G. R. Hutchinson, of Auckland, a member of the New Zealand Broadcasting Board. "I have no details at present," Mr. Hutchinson said, "but I know that alternative tenders arc being called, one for a transmitter more powerful than that at present operating* at IYA and tbe other for oiie of still higher power. It is as yet too early to say which class of v-ender will bo decided on." <
The transmitting plant would be assembled in a building to be ereeixsd oa the property near Henderson raently acquired by the board, Mr. Hutninson* said. Finality regarding the plan'. should bo reached in the near future.; as all tho firms likely to tender wen/ represented in Wellington.
