FATAL FALL FROM FENCE
DEATH OF YOUNG MAN ACCIDENT THREE WEEKS AGO [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN' CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAREI, Sunday As the result of an unusual accident three weeks ago, Mr. Clauds Dickey, aged 22, died in the Whanearei Hospital last evening of cerebral hemorrhage. ' Mr. Dickey found it necessary climb a wireless mast at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. Dicker, Miins Avenue, in order to repair soma damage that had been done by wind. In descending he stood for a moment upon a wire fence, lost his balance and fell, the back of his head striking the ground. At the same time one of his legs became entangled with the top wire of the fence. He remained partly suspended for some time exactly how long is not known. Eventually he was found in an unconscious condition by his mother, who released him. A doctor was summoned and the patient remained at home under his care for the next fortnight. He then resumed his work as an assistant i& the drapery store of Mr. R. 0. king, but after three days he found it necessary to remain at home, where he appeared to be recovering. About 7.30 p.m. yesterday he became worse and was taken to the hospital, dying an hour later. It is probable that aa inquest will not be required. Mr. Dickey was well known throughout the Whangarei district for his connection with sport, particularly hockey, football, swimming and boating.
