CYCLIST KILLED

STRUCK BY CAR FATAL HEAD INJURIES RESIDENT OF MANGERE EAST GREAT SOUTH ROAD ACCIDENT A middle-aged man, Mr. Norman McDonald, married, of Mangere East, was killed on the Great South Road near the municipal abattoirs at about 11 o'clock last night, as the result of being knocked down by a motor-car driven by Mr. K. Todd, of Otahuhu. Mr. McDonald, who was employed at the Southdown freezing works, was profeeding from Westfield toward Otahuhu on a bicycle, and the car was travelling in the same direction. The visibility was bad at the time owing to rain. Mr. McDonald was struck by the car and received head injuries, from which he died in about 10 minutes.. The bicycle was badly damaged, but little damage was done to the car.
