Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Kalaugher, of Marlborough, England, arc visiting Rotorua. Wairakei and later the South Island: They expect to return at the end of the month and will sail for England late in November.

Miss Audrev Orbell, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Orbell, Papanui, Christehurch, who -has been on the staff of the Wanganni Hospital for several years, will arrive in Auckland shortly to take her maternity training.

The late Dr. Annie Besant was greatly interested in the Boy Scout movement in India and was appointed Chief Scout by Lord Baden-Powell. He also presented her with the decoration of the Silver Wolf.

Mrs. W. P. Eiulcan, wife of Mr. W. P. Endean, M.P., became suddenly ill while travelling from Wellington to Auckland by the limited express on Friday night. On arrival at Auckland on Saturday morning she was taken to a privato hospital and she was later able to return to her home.

Mrs. Alec Crawford, president of the Wanganni Croquet Club, bas been invited to manage the New Zealand croquet championship, which \vill be held in Christehurch. Mrs. Crawford s work as an organiser was thoroughly appreciated at the championship meeting held in Wanganni in 1932.

An afternoon concert was held in the grounds of Mrs. James Buchanan's home at Clifton Road, Takapuna, on Saturday afternoon, the proceeds, which exceeded £9, being in aid of the Takapuna Barnardo cot fund. A toy symphony orchestra was a great attraction. Scenes from Shakespeare were given by pupils of the Takapuna Grammar School, under Miss Mawhinney, and songs were sung by Mrs. Boman, Mrs. Henderson, Miss Peggy Howie and Miss Moyna Slacken. Mr. Herbert Trill played a cornet solo.

The Helcnsville Golf Club lipid a very enjoyable evening on Thursday, dancing and bridge providing the entertainment. Trophies won during the season were presented by Mr. C. G.
