RUNNING DESCRIBED GUY DENVER UNLUCKY BEACH HANDICAP ACCIDENTS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday Dynasty, favourite for the Innovation Handicap, was in front most of tho way but repeated breaking cost him an ex cellent winning chance, and ho was beaten into fourth place. Idanoe, who was never further back than third, took charge entering the straight, and won from Norman Fox, who camo with a strong run, and Katinga, who also finished very fast. Ilokemai and Isabel Patch were next. The defeat of the favourite. Marie Celeste, was brought about by General Wrack in the Shirley Handicap, in which both were always near tho front. When Margaret Chenault retired from tho lead at the home turn Mario Celeste was in front, but General Wrack finished too strongly for her and beat her rather comfortably, with Recess finishing well a good third. Agile I'ved into fourth place, and then came Warpath. Guy Denver was unlucky to losp tho Waimairi Handicap, as after losing 36 yards at the start, ho toyk tho lead with six furlongs to go, and was still in front from Royal Drusus, Waress and Holly Bank with a furlong and a-half to go. Tho race appeared to be his at this stage, but ho left the rails in the last 50 yards and Waress, who was always closo up, camo through brilliantly to win by less than a length. Holly Bank, always near the front, finished third, a nock in front of Erin's Princess. Gold Paper was fifth. Roy Spec did not go away. Always in the leading division in the Summer Handicap Vagabond King was behind Goldworthy. Grand Finale and Wnrboat with two furlongs to go, where Goldworthy was beaten. In a atom fight all tho way down tho straight, Vagabond King did better than Wrbont with a littlo to spare. Tho favourite. Grand Finale, was third, and Marvin Bingen, who ran wide at the home turn, a close fourth, just ahead of Goldworthy. Tho winner returned a dividend of just over three-quarters of a century. Eureka Boy endeavoured to win the Avon Handicap from end to end, and looked liko doing so when he led George Rey, who had always been, second, and Sunny Morn commencing the run home. where Tactless was next. Sunny Morn, under tho whip, responded gamely to got up in the last stride to beat Eureka Boy by a hoad, with George Rey a length further away. Tactless was a good fourth. First Flight, Gold Tinge, Freo Advice and Colonial Boy broke at different stages of the race. The effort of Tactless suggests excellent prospects on the Waikato-Auckland trip. Silk Coat, Enigma and Radley mado play for 11 furlongs in tho Now Brighton Handicap. Radley then broko and Don Chenault, trotting very fast, took third place. These three staged an excellent, finish. Enigma looked the winner 50 yards from tho post, whore Silk Coat, tangled and Don Chenault broke, but tho last-named recovered quickly and snatched victory by a head from Silk Coat, who also finished fast to beat Enigma by a neck. Radley was fourth o_nd Amonos a poor fifth. Don Chenault's dividend approached the half-century. Another dividond approaching the halfcentury was returned by Checkers, winner of the Beach Handicap. This race was full of incident, as Rey Spec fell in fhe first furlong, and Chef wont over him. Pageant, D'Or, who took the lend at the ond of two furlongs, fell when in front a furlong further on. Holly Bank then led from Denver Citv, Royal Drusus, Checkers and Dusolina, but Manoeuvre made a fast run rounding the top to tollow Holly Bank and Royal Drusus into tho straight. Here Holly Bank dropped back and Checkers cotno on. Finishing more strongly than Manoeuvre and Royal Drusus, Checkers went, on to score a meritorious win. Denver City and Dusolina were next to finish. Beginning fast,, Wild Guy was soon in a good position in the Farewell Handicap and took tho lead with three and. a-half furlongs to go. He showed the way into the straight to Chenwood, Molly Desborough, Aristotle and Gnmdigger, who were almost in line, and was not rerlly troubled in fhe straight to win with something in hand from Chenwood, who just beat Molly Desborough on tho post.
