Kapuna, won the Wakari Hurdles and paid over half a century. Gold Knight appeared to have Kapun;i bc«ten after landing over the last hurdle, but- ho collapsed. Membo found his weight too much and the distance too short. Falkland vr.s improved by his race on the first day pnd stayed on,bi-st in tho Kaikorai Handicap, in whirfh Blazon was ridden a bad race and should have won. He. was kept too fir out in the first halfmile, although apparently going well, and then came round the field to make a late run. The field cf six in the Shorts Handicap got away in two sections, Silver Streak. Meadow Lark and Hula lielle being slow to move. Kf.rht.ide and Mobile led from Fair Weather, nr.d the last-named took charge in' the straight but just failed to stall off Mobile. Silver Streak would have been a sure winner but for losing ground at the start. Polyd'iru cut'larsed the opposition in the Ranfurly Handicap. Silvox should have won the Dunedin Guineas, but was kept too far out of his ground and a he'ated run found him unable to reach The Masquerader. Fracas had every chance, but failed to stay. Southdown could not handlo the going, and the others were outclassed. Invoice got a break at the start of the Dominion Handicap and that was the end of the rice. Grand Finale made hacks of the opposition in the Telegraph Handicap and tie p.ime thing occurred in the Clarendon Handicap, in which Ventrac cleared right out from the rest of tho field. A. E.
