UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF
WAIHI'S REDUCED GRANT UNAVAILING PROTEST [by telegraph OWN correspondent! "VVAIHI, Saturday Tho Unemployment Committee's protest against a further reduction of the allocation for relief works at Wailii has been without avail. Replying to Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P., who made representations on behalf of the committee, the Minister of Employment states that, while appreciating the assistance of the local committee, tho Government and the Unemployment Board regret that it is n<jt possible to grant the previous weekly allocation of £95. The Minister adds that it will be necessary for the Unemployment Board to obtain some financial relief during the summer.
