HIGH OFFICIAL'S ARREST ALLEGED TREASON LONDON, Oct. 5 The Venice correspondent of the Daily Telegraph states that tho arrest of Commendatore Donato Battelli, an intimate friend and school mate of the Prime Minister of Italy, Signor Mussolini, has caused a sensation. He was transferred to a prison in Rome charged with betraying Italian naval secrets to foreign interests. It is alleged that Battelli traded on his well-known friendship with the Duco to represent himself as being engaged in promoting tho steel industry. The case will be handled by the special tribunal for the defence of the State.
