SEARCH FOR CAR DRIVER

REWARDS NOW TOTAL £45

Rewards totalling £45 are offered through the Superintendent of Police at Auckland, Mr. S. Till, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver of the stolen car who caused serious injury to Constable Edward E. Stewart, of the Newton station, at midnight on September 19, in Williamson Avenue, Grey Lynn. An offer of £ls, in addition to the £25 reward announced last Saturday, and the £5 contributed by the Automobile Association, was received by Superintendent Till yesterday from a private individual. In recognition of Constable Stewart's plucky attempt to arrest the thief, motoring organisations throughout New Zealand have donated sums of money, which later will be presented to the constable by -the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. W. Hutchison. Since the constable was injured, detectives have been busy daily in endeavouring to trace tho driver of the car.
