FINANCES OF SOCIETY An increase of £IOO in the benevolent fund of the Auckland branch of the British Sailors' Society, on account of n recent legacy, was reported at the annual meeting of the society by the treasurer, .Mr. W. Ilushbrook. Flic capital of the fund amounted to £-100, hut the general fund was in need of further support. The society's mission in Albert Street is under the auspices of the Auckland .Ministers' Association, the board of directors being interdenominational. It was reported that regular Sunday evening services were held by _ the focicty, the total attendance of sailors Inst year being 441. Social activities for the. benefit of seamen had been carried on by a group of volunteer workers. Appreciative reference to tin 4 work of Mr. .1. Holloway, ships' visitor, and the voluntary workers, was contained in the report of the sietitigsecretary,- the Rev. S. Griffith, who paid a tribute to the work of the iormer secretary, the Rev. I*. H. Hadford. An address was given by the Rev. .Knowles Kcmpton, and a musical and elocutionary programme was proTided.
