The score fairly represents the merit* of the teams, neither of which played football up to inter-provincial standard. Chiefly confined to the forwards, the game was relieved at times by passing bouts and flashes of individual bnilliance. Franklin, with Weir playing a splendid game, opened up scoring movements, but the centre failed badly. J. Tonga, behind tho Franklin pack, played nice football, as did Barnaby at five-eighths. Waiuku was well served by Moyle at half, as he played a fine game all the way, scoring a brilliant solo try besides dropping a field goal. Kerebs, Robinson and Henderson were prominent in the very even, hardworking "Waiuku pack. The opening score for Waiuku came from a brilliant solo effort by Moyle from 25 vards out. Putaruru started well after the interval, but good line-kicking by Aitken saved Morrinsville's situation time after time. NORTH AUCKLAND SUCCESS DEFEAT OF THAMES VALLEY [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAREI, Saturday There was an attendance of about 1200 at Rugby Park this afternoon, whon the North Auckland senior representatives defeated Thames Valley by 30 points to 15. The weather was beautifully • fine and the ground hard, resulting in numerous minor accidents. Holmwood, North Auckland, rotired during the game with an injury to the knee, and Clark, of Thames Valley, also retired with an injury to the shoulder. Most of the scoring was done in the first spell, when the game was very fast. In the second spell the tackling was more deadly, and in consequence the game was less epectucular. The visiting forwards put up a stern fight against their heavier opponents, but their backs were not equal to the speed and penetration of the Northern men. The Thames Valley bucks made some excellent openings, but bad handling spoiled the movements when in scoring positions. For the visitors the best forwards were Radford. Rowe an.d Clark, and in the backs Gloyn, Ratehum find Stewart were the best. The whole North Auckland team played well, and there whs not a weak man in the team. In the forwards, Peacock, Morressey and McDonald are worthy of mention, and in the rear division Fergus, Pickering, McRae and Kerr were particularly good. Tries for North Auckland were scored by Mcßae, Franich (2), Holmwood, McDonald. Morgan and Pickering (2), Mcßae converted five tries and Kerr one. For Thames Valley Packham, Radford and Rowe scored tries, Stewart converting one, while Barry potted a goal. Mr. G. Wilding, of Whangarei, was referee.
