CHANGE IN WEATHER RAIN EXPECTED SHORTLY The Government meteorologist re* ported last evening as follows:— An anti-cyclone is moving off the Dominion and a ratlier intense depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Indications are for strong northerly to north-westerly winds, rising to gale force in places, backing to southerlies in from 24 to 36 hours. Seas rough on the west coast and in Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong northerly winds backing to westerly in the northern portion and to south-westerly generally, to-morrow. Weather cloudy and unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect and rain setting in; heavy falls likely in Westland. Fair at first in eastern districts, hut later rain becoming fairly general. Temperatures mild, but a cold change is indicated shortly. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —A dense fog was expert, enccd over the harbour and foresnore for six hours early yesterday morning. After the fog cleared about nine o'clock • fine weather and a light easterly wind prevailed. The barometer was practically steady all day. Sunshine and cloud prevailed yesterday. There was a strong wind from the north, with occasional light misty showers. Christchurch. —The weather was fine with a. strong easterly breeze in the morning. The barometer fell from 29.94 in. to 29.84 in. Dunedin.;r-There was continuation of fine weather yesterday with more cloud than sunshine and a light breeze from tho north-east.
