STRAYING STOCK

DANGERS TO TRAFFIC FRANKLIN COUNTY POSITION [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, "Wednesday A petition asking that the matter of straying stock in the Otaua district bo given immediate attention was received at to-day's meeting of tho Franklin County Council. It bore 61 signatures, and was supported by a deputation, for which Mr. A. B. Ghezzi acted as spokesman. He said the position had become serious. Accidents had happened, and one young man was still in hospital on account of injuries received through tho car which ho was driving colliding with a cow on the road at night. A cyclist had collided with a horse, and thero had been numerous narrow escapes.

Members of the council agreed that tho matter of straying stock should bo taken in hand. It was decided that a warning be issued that stock found wandering on the roads would bo impounded.
