Miss Marie Dannefaerd and Miss Lee Dannefaerd were hostesses last week at a gift evening for Miss Nan Holland.Miss M. Dannefaerd wore a frock of primrose net over satin and Miss L. Dannefaerd a frock of autumn-shaded figured georgette. Miss N. Holland wore deep blue flat crepe. In the bridge and supper rooms bright fires burned and bowls of plum blossom, daphne and daffodils were artistically arranged. During the early part of the evening progressive bridge was played, the first prize going to Miss M. Cooney. After supper the gifts were displayed and a guessing competition was held. The prize was won by Miss Cora Moore. Those present included: —Mrs. M. Dannefaerd, Mrs. A. G. Holland, Miss H Cooney, Mrs. Jack Spear, Miss Grace Booth, Miss Cora Moore. Miss Jean Pearce, Miss Vera Griffiths, Miss Verena Holland, IVliss Dona Griffiths, Miss Muriel Cooney, and Miss Mariorio Esdale. Mrs. S. W. Wallis was hostess on Friday afternoon, when the literary circle of the Women's Club met at her home in Pukaki Street. The drawing room was arranged with bowls or japonica, hyacinths and daffodils, rhe nlav "Pygmalion" was read, those taking parts being:—Mrs. H. Itertram, Mrs. H. N. Davis, Mrs. Walsh, Mrs. J. Stewart, Miss A. C. keanll, Miss M Macticr, Miss Doria Griffiths. Miss G. La Trobe Hill, Miss Jean Pearco and Miss Guys Wallis.
