AUSTRALIAN'S SUCCESS FIVE MILES CHAMPIONSHIP NEW YORK. Aug. 21 George Dempsey (Australia) holds the United States sprint bicycle riding championship for professionals, bv virtue of his victory at Nutley, New Jersey, last evening, in the five miles sprint event. His time.was 10.34 4-5 Dempsey came from .the rear in the final lap, passed Norman Hill (California), came on even terms with tha pacemaker, Cecil Walker (Australia, the title-holder for three years) apd the pair drove down the stretch at a terrific pace, Dempsey winning by inches.
