WAGES AND TRADE

Sir, —Will your correspondent "Pekau" kindly explain how the raising of wages to a level higher than the worker is able to earn is going to increase the amount of money in circulation ? The amount we have to spend would seem to depend mainly on the amount of money received for our surplus produce sold abroad, and, seeing that the sum now received is only about half what it used to be, it is little wonder that the people as a whole have less to spend than formerly, and no amount of juggling with that amount will make it hny larger. Rustic.
