"THE JEWEL SONG"
STANLEY LUPINO COMEDY Jose Collins, the popular musical fcomedy star, is being signed by British International Pictures to make her talkie debut. She will be seen as a prima donna in operatic scenes which form the background of the new comedy starring vehicle for Stanley Lupino entitled " The Jewel Song." As the title suggests, Gounod's celebrated opera " Faust " will be an important feature in the production, for scenes from the opera will be filmed with Miss Collins in the role of Marguerite. In support of Stanley Lupino, a strong cast has been assembled and the
Vocal talent of the artists depicting other members of the opera company is ensured by the inclusion of three important players. Nancy Brown, the young Australian who so recently delighted everyone with her screen performance in the title role of " The Maid of the Mountains;" Doris Woodall, well known on the concert platform and as a members of the Covent Garden Opera Company, and Denis 'Hocy, whose beautiful bass voice is too rarely •heard, have important singing and acting roles. Opposite Lupino in an ingenUe role will be a pretty film debutante, Nancy Byrne. A charming singer and dancer, she scored a personal success in the recent production " Ballyhoo!'' Other leading parts will be played by Morris Harvey, Lester Matthews and Hal Gordon. " The Jewel Song " will go into immediate production under the direction of Harry Hughes.
