AMATEUR ATHLETICS
RELIEF CARNIVAL TO-DAY
A fine programme of events has been arranged for the athletic and cycling carnival to be held at the Western Springs Stadium this afternoon, in aid of relief of distress in Grey Lynn. Several attempts vjll be made on 2ifew Zealand records, N. F. Cooper will attempt to break Randolph Rose's six-year-old record of 9m 20 1-133 for the two miles; both H. R. 13wight and L. Dwight will attempt R. G. I' oubister's one-mile unpaced cycle record, while M. P. Byrnes will attempt to create a New Zealand one-mile tandem record. All the leading athletes and cyclists will be competing. Handicaps declared by Air. A.
