ARCHBISHOP REDWOOD
NINETY-FOURTH BIRTHDAY
Archbishop Redwood, whose record of 59 years as a bishop is believed to be unequalled, will celebrate his 9iih' birthday to-day. Archbishop Redwood came to Now Zealand from England at the age of three, his father being a pioneer of the Nelson district. The Ked« wood family is to-day one of the best known in Nelson and Marlborough. Archbishop Redwood studied for tli9 priesthood in France and was ordained in Ireland in ISGS. Only nine years later he was appointed the second Roman Catholic Bishop of Wellington and 13 years later, in ISS7, ho was created archbishop. Ho is still in good health and active, and last year travelled to Dublin to be present at the Eucharistio Congress.
