MR. ROBERT EDWARDS

The death ( has occurred of Mr. Robert Edwards, who was Mayor of Palmerston North in 1892 and 1893 and a member of the council during three other periods. Mr. Edwards, who was 76 years of ago. was born in Geelong and arrived in New Zealand in 1869. After a period on his father's farm and in his flaxmill at Moutoa, Mr. Edwards returned to Australia and studied for the profession of architect and sanitary engineer. Later he came to Palmerston North and established himself in business, taking an active part, in local affairs. In addition to the City Council, Mr. Edwards had boen a member of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, the Foxton Harbour Board and several other bodies. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife and six children.
