MEASURE FOR CONTROL ADOPTION BY SENATE (Received January 0.55 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 25 Tho Senate to-day, by 54 votes to 9, pajsed Mr. C. Glass' Bunking Bill. The inflationists, led by Messrs. Long and Wheeler, were completely routed. However, they expressed the opinion that the bill would be defeated in the House •of Representatives. flip measure i.s intended generally to strengthen the national tanking system :md to remedy the conditions under which over 10 000 banks have' failed in recent years. It seeks to give the central board of the Federal Reserve Bank greater control over it-i member banks, to divorce the banks and security affiliates, and limit reserve funds for speculative operations.
