HOLIDAY IN THE NORTH

YACHTING AND MOTORING IN GOOD CONDITION [from our own correspondent] HANGAREI, Wednesday Glorious summer weather prevailed throughout the district on Monday and Tuesday. As a remit, there was a great exodus of people to the various pleasure resorts; A large number took advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy the pleasures of launching and yachting on the Whangarei Harbour. On Monday afternoon two Auckland yachts arrived on the harbour—the 38ft. B class auxiliary keel yacht Kestrel, and the 22ft. mullet boat Malua. Both are moored at the town wharf. The former is owned by Mr. J. Ayling and the latter by Messrs. Bond Brothers. The Kestrel had a good trip from Kawau and intends leaving for Coromandel this evening. The Malua left Auckland on Saturday morning, breaking the journey' at Kawau and Leigh. Two whales were overtaken when the vessel was off Sail Rock, The Malua intends leaving on Friday for Leigh.

The beaches fit Ruakaka and Waipu are thronged with picnickers, while at Ngunguru, Matapouri, Whananaki, Whangaruru and Onerahi large numbers of camp, ers are gathered. Numbers of visiting motorists attended the camping site at Kensington Park, but their visits have been of short duration, the majority making for the Far North. All roads, including clay roads, are now in good condition.
