BELL-BIRDS SOUGHT
REQUEST FROM TE AROHA
A request for bell-birds for liberation on Te Aroha Mountain, which is a sanctuary, was received from the Te Aroha Rod and Gun Club, a branch of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, at the last meeting of the board of managers of the Auckland Zoological Society.
The letter stated that thero were many tuis on the mountain, and a few bell-birds had been noticed, but more were wanted. Tho birds would be vigilantly protected, and there would be no lack of hone} - bearing trees and shrubs, 011 which they feed. . ' >- - . r It was decided to ask the Minister for Internal Affairs, the Hon. A. Hamilton, for permission to transfer a small number of bell-birds from a bush district in the King Country to Te Aroha.
