EXPORT MEAT PRICES
HIGHER SCHEDULE RATES
LONDON MARKET IMPROVES
LOCAL DEMAND STIMULATED
Better prices for frozen meat. o n the London market have had the effect of stimulating the export demand in the Auckland Province: Exporters are now able to operate on a wider basis and prices are quoted for lambs, wethers and ewes and boner bulls and cows. Up to ; the present no prices have been announced for prime ox and cow. beef, but it is thought likely that inquiry will be made later. ■ S -
The outlook is much better than a few weeks ago, when exporters held back their schedule of rates owing to the unsatisfactory state of the British market. Ihe export season was somewhat delayed and efforts are now being made to fill requirements. Although the future trend of the London market is uncertain, there is nothing to indicate a fall in values in the near future.
The prices quoted by exporters a.re considered attractive under the circumstances and the offering of stock should be sufficient. Prices for lambs and boner cattle are a shasde firmer than the rates two weeks ago, when values for mutton were purely nominal. The following prices on hooks are quoted Lambs: 361b., a lb.; 371b. to 421b., 3|d; over 421b. and seconds, 3-jd.' Wethers: Up to 481b. 2gd; 491b. to 561b., lgd; over, 1 3-8 d; seconds, 2 l-Bd. Ewes: Up, to 481b., l^d; 491b. to 561b., lid; 571b. to 641b., Id; all others, £d. Boner bulls, 9s 6d; boner cows, ss.
