ACTIVITIES AT OPOTIKI

LIBERATION OF TROUT FRY

[r.V TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] OPOTIKI, Thursday

The president's report presented at tho annual meeting of the Opotiki Rod and Gun Club stated that 150,0C0 trout fry had been liberated. There having been a close season for game last year, good sport was expected next season. The meeting decided to recommend the Department of Internal Affairs to liberate trout fry in the Otara River and to ask it to stock rivers on the coast. It was also decided to draw the attention of the department to the shooting of the curlew, which, it was stated, took place in the district before the season opened. The, following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr. G. S. Moody; president, Mr. R. Mcllwraith; secretary and treasurer, Mr. T. H. Pearson. A committee of 12 was elected.
