RARE BURNS EDITION

VOLUME AT MANGERE

Another copy of the Edinburgh edition of Burns' poems, dated 1757, is in the possession of an Auckland resident, Mr. G. L. Thomson, of Muir l!oad, Mangere, whoso family has owned the volume for 11.any years. Mr. '1 homson's copy is not, however, one of tho six known as the "stinking" edition, such as is owned by an Epsom resident.

Mr. 'ihomsoli said yesterday thai a ropv of tho ordinary edition, of which 1000 were printed, was sold for £IOO at Christy's two years ago. A member of his family 80 years ago was offered £7)B for the copy ho now owns.
