Vincent last evening'The extensive anrl intense depression has moved on to the Dominion from the Tasman Sea and is centred in the South Island. The main portion of the disturbance is expected to pass in the south today. Expect- unsettled and boisterous we3t,her in western and southern districts, with heavy showers. Hail and thunder probable in places near the west coast. Westerly to south-westerly winds, strong and squally. Rough seas on the west coast and rough in the Bay of Plenty. Local outlook: Unsettled, with showers, although fair intervals will intervene. Temperatures will become colder.

a The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An extensive westerly depression covers New Zealand and the south Tasman Sea. A fairly intense anti-cyclone is centred near Adelaide. Indications are foi" strong westerly winds, backing gradually to south-west. Seas rough on the west, coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea :> West to south-west winds, strong in the southern portion with rough seas; moderate in the northern portion with moderate seas. Weather squally and changeable. Some rairi in districts with a westerly aspect and some heavy falls in Westland; mainly fine in eastern districts, bub showen extending from tho south later. Temperatures falling gradually to-morrow.
