NOVEL GIVES OFFENCE

Annoyed by the novel, " Storm in Oxford," dealing with controversial aspects of University life, Oxford undergraduates threw the author, Mr. Tangye Lean, editor of " Isis," into the River Cherwell. Mr. Lean stated later that a dozen men confronted him shouting: "You are a swine. You wrote ' Storm in Oxford., It is a disgusting insult." " I was overpowered, thrown into the river, and swam ashore," said Mr. Lean. He added that his rooms were often wrecked, and he had received anonymous letters threatening violence as a result of the novel. v
