WATER SUPPLY FAILS

FAULT AT MOUNT ROSKILL

DANGER IN CASE OF FIRE

The fact that the whole of the Mount Roskill road district was without a water supply for fire-fighting purposes for over three hours last Saturday afternoon was revealed in a letter from the Mount Roskill Fire Board, received by the Road Board last evening. The letter stated that there was no water from 3.35 to 6.42, and pointed out the disastrous position which might have arisen if a fire had occurred between those hours.

Discussion on the letter was taken in committee. Questioned at. the close of the meeting the chairman, Mr. C. M. McCullough, declined to give any further details, but said that "necessary precautions have been taken to ensure that the matter will not occur again."
