VICE VERSA DANCE

BIRKENHEAD EX-SOLDIERS

The novelty of dancing in the attire of the opposite sex attracted a large gathering on the occasion of the " Viceversa " social, held in the Victoria Hall under the auspices of the Birkenhead ExServicemen's Association. The spirit of the innovation was fully fntered into and an atmosphere of gaiety pervaded the proceedings. The costumes were judged by Mrs. E. J. Spencer and Mr. B. T. Rooth, who awarded first prize to Miss 0. Luks as the best-dressed " man " and and to Mr. L. Moller for the best "lady's" frock. The floor arrangements were in charge of Messrs. A. Fraser and F. Lees. The music was supplied by the Merrymakers Orchestra, and extras were played by Mr. R. Thomas. The function was organised by a committee comprising Mrs. J. W. Canty, Mrs. E. J. Spencer, Mrs. J. E. Goulden, Messrs. J. W. Canty, E. J. Spencer, A. Fraser, J. E. Gouldeil, J. Prescott, S. Hingston, F. Lees, B. T. Rooth and J. Foster. The card tables were in the charge of Mr. J. Foster. The whist drive prize-winners were: —Ladies : Mrs. F. Carnahan, first, Mrs. C. Smithson, second, Mrs. A. Burrell, consolation. Gents: Mr. F. Carnahan, first, Mr. A. Manson, second, Mr. A. Gummer, consolation. The competition for three bags of coal was won by Mrs. M. Roberts. Among those present were:—Mrs. J. W. Canty, Mrs. J. E. Goulden, Mrs. F. Tothill, Mrs. J. Foster, Mrs. A.
