VINES INJURES ARM

OVER-USE OF FAST SERVICE

H. Ellsworth Vines, the world's champion tennis player, disclosed to a Sydney newspaper representative last week that he was suffering from an injury to a muscle in the upper part of his right arm caused, he believes, through overuse of his cannonball service in his match against V. B. McGrath. It had been noticed that Vines had not played in his best form since the Now South Wales championships began. He had not used his cannonball services until the last game of the doubles, when he and Gledhill were in danger of defeat by B. Moore and D. Thompson, two young local players. His strong forehand drive had rarely been employed.
