[BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Tuesday Although he lias lieen unable yet to make •any more definite arrangements, tho Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. C. E. Mac* millan, repeated in an interview to-day that it was his intention, to call a conference before the end of tho present session among those interested in tho production and distribution of wheats

The main object of the conference, which was announced by tho Minister during his recent visit to Christchurch, and again mentioned in the House during the discussion 011 the Customs Acts Amendment Bill, will be to secure as nearly as possible uniform prices for wheat throughout the North and South Islands. Mr. Macmillan said to-day that before making arrangements for the conference he was anxious to discuss such questions as the agenda and representation with interested members of Parliament, like Mr. W. J. Poison, Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, Mr. T. D. Burnett, Mr. J. Bitchener and Mr. J. Connolly. Unfortunately, the Motueka by-election and other difficulties had intervened, but he could definitely say that the conference would, be held before .the adjournment pi .Parliament,,
