The Government steamer Matai is to Bail for Northern and "West Coast lighthouses this morning.

The Waimarino left Oamaru on Monday night and was to clear Timaru at eix o clock last evening for Lyttclton, Wellington and Auckland.

The Waipiata completed unloading cargo from Southern ports yesterday and sailed for Portland last evening. The vessol is scheduled to return to Auckland to-morrow morning to continue loading and she is to sail later in the day for Wellington, Lyttelton. Dunedin, Bluff and Timaru.

The Port Whangarei arrived from Southren ports vesterday morning and unloaded at King's "Wharf. She sailed for Whangarei last evening to complete discharge. THE GABRIELLA The Gabriella arrived at Newcastle from Wellington yesterday. The vessel will load for Wellington and Miramar. CHITRAL AT FREMANTLE The P. and O. liner Chitral arrived at F reman tie from London yesterday. She is scheduled to reach Sydney on December 1. THE WAIKOUAITI The Waikouaiti left Sydney yesterday for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru and Lyttelton. - H.M.S. DIOMEDE .RETURNING H M.S. THE PORT VICTOR Reported to have reached Las Palmas on Sunday, the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Victor is en route from Auckland to London and West Coast Ports of Great Britain. She was despatched fiom Auckland on Oct>ber 11. REMUERA CLEARED CURACAO The New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the liner Remuera cleared Curact.o on Sunday in continuation of her voyago from Auckland to London. She was despatched froni Auckland oil October 27. THE MATAROA To commence loading: for her homeward voyage. the Shaw. Savill and Albion liner Mataroa sailed for Wellington yesterday afternoon. Tho vessel will complete loading at Gisborne and Auckland. She is scheduled to return to this port on December 3 and to sail for Southampton and London, via Panama, on December 14. THE MAUNGANUI The Maunganui arrived at Sydney from Wellington at 735 a.m. yesterday. She will be withdrawn from the intercolonial service and will transfer to the Pacific mail service in place of the Monowai, which is now in the intercolonial run. The Maunganui will leave Sydney to-morrow and Wellington next Tuesday for Rarotonga, Papeete and San Francisco. NEW DUNEDIN TRAWLER A new departure in fishing craft in the South is embodied in a powerful motortrawler at present on the stocks of Messrs. Miller and Tunnage's yard at Port Chalmers. The new feature is that this vessel is to bo equipped with a freezing chamber, having a capacity of sis -tons. Being built to the order of Messrs. Hayward Brothers, the new trawler will have Dunedin as her home port, but will try the deep-water fishing grounds round tho coast. Her dimensions, of 50ft. in length, with 12ft. Gin. beam and 6ft. draught, will enable lier to navigate the coast in "practically any weather, her 36 h p. Diesel engine giving a speed of nine knots. Ketch-rigged, with straight stem and clipper stern, the trawler is flush-decked, with accommodation for a crew of five men. Sho will bo ready for launching about next March.
