TEA TIiADER WINS SHUNT

A feature of the conclusion of the WaiJ<ato Racing Club's Spring Meeting at To luipa yesterday was the success of horses trained by R. S. Bagby, who had three •winners, namely, Prolyxo, Gay Marigold and Chief Joy. Bagby also rode Chief .Joy himself, and, as he also won with Gay Marigold, he. had a very successful incet)i]£. Tho course was again fast, and the i-acing proved highly interesting, several of the finishes being very close.

The chief event, the Hamilton Handicap, was won by the consistent L'Allegro, who led all the way to score narrowly from the favourite, Speedniinfc. L'Allegro thus completed a winning double at tho meeting, as he also won t.lio High-weight Handicap on the first day. Tho odds-on favourite, Tea Trader, scored a very decisive victory in the Cambridge Handicap. Tea Trader outpaced Iho opposition early, and was always well clear in the last three furlongs, making an exhibition of the field. The attendance was again good, and tho totalisator handled £13,027 10s, compared with £12,516 on the corresponding day last year. The total investments for tho meeting amounted to £28,875, as against £'26,136 10s for last year, an increase of £2738 10s. Results:—

The field gave a lot of trouble at the etarl and Sweet Lap and Star Mint were badly left. Chateau was first to show out and he led across the top from The Pullet, Foreigiy Money, Beryl Latour, Keith Hall. Blanford and Arawa Rose. Chateau was clear entering the straight from Tho Pullet. Arawa Rose, Foreign Money and Blanford. It looked as if Chateau would win at the distance, but Arawa Rose and Bell Topper challenged strongly in the last furlong. /.Bell Topper finished best, and be got up on the outside to win by half a head from Arawa Rose, who beat Chateau by a head. The Pullet was a close fourth, followed by Blanford, Foreign Money, Whirlalong and Loombination. Time, lm 15 2-ss.

Searcher, Moonfleet and Imamint showed out first from good start, but King V> in ran to the front quickly from Imamint, Merry Lap. Ruby Dawn, Prolyxo and Moonfleet. King Win just led Ruby Dawn at the top, with Prolyxo, Imamint, Merry Lap, Moonfleet and Limex all handy. King W iri was slill in command entering the straight, and was closely followed by Huby Dawn, Prolyxo, Imamint, Merry Lap an<l Limex. .At the distance Prolyxo, on the inside, and Merry Laii. outside, challenged, and in a lino race home Prolyxo won by a short neck from Merry Lap. Nothing had a chance of reaching Tea Trader at the finish arid he romped home by four lengths from Gay Lap, who got up in tho last few strides to beat Paganelli by a neck. The suit of the jockey Leonard H. Watson against the Auckland District Committee, which was referred last week to a special appeal committee to be agreed on between the Pacing Conference and Watson, will be heard in Auckland at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. November 29 by appeal judges, who have yet to be appointed. Watson was disqualified for life for an infringement at the Pukekohe meeting last year. He sued the district comnjittee for £IOOO, and it was decided that the case be referred to the New Zealand Pacing Conference for decision.
