NEW ZEALAND HONEY

Sir, —In your issue 'of November 15 appears a statement by Mr. J. B. Butland that must surely make beekeepers rub their eyes. After giving an optimistic survey he says, "In about 12 or 18 months, after the clearing of existing stocks, the industry in New Zealand would be in a most favourable position." What are we to do meanwhile? This wonderful marketing scheme still holds this stock, in spite of the fact that practically nothing was exported in 1932, and only 245 tons in 1931. Is not thi3 much vaunted arrangement nothing more than a glorified toy ? If we have an exportable surplus of over 1000 tons this coming season, as was the case in 1928 and 1929, and it is placed in this scheme, we a beekeepers will need to close down for \ about five years. Henry Geddes. Rotorua.
