Tho following weather forecast, for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—The westerly depression is crossing the South Island and barometric pressure remains relatively higTi in the north. Expect cloudy and unsettled weather in western and southern districts, with heavy showers. Mainly fair to fine in East Coast areas. North-westerly winds, moderate to strong, squally at times, backing to south-west temporarily. Rough seas on the west coast, particularly southward from Cape Egmont, and rough in the Bay of rienty. Local outlook: Squally, with heavy showers, although with fair intervals intervening. Warm and humid conditions. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.10 in. Midnight, Saturday .. .. 30.01) in. Temperature in shatlo yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum. 76deg.; minimum, 61deg.
GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —An intense westerly depression passed rapidly eastward during Saturday flight, but a southerly which followed was generally only moderate. The pressure has again fallen over eastern Australia. Indications are for moderate south-westerly winds, veering to westerly and northerly, and later freshening. Seas: A considerable swell between Castlepoint and East Cape, otherwise moderate. In the eastern Tusman Sea, moderate variable winds, but soon becoming northerly and freshening. Seas moderate. The weather for tho most part will bo fair, but scattered showers are probable, more especially in western districts. Temperatures becoming warm.
