HORSE SUDDENLY BOLTS

RACECOURSE GARDENER'S DEATH

A gardener employed by the Auckland Racing Club, Mr. Joseph Parrington, aged 44, was fatally injured about 10 a.m. on | Saturday when a horse drawing a cart ;§ he was driving suddenly bolted. Mr. Par- 1 rington was thrown from the vehicle and. | received a fracture of the skull.

The accident occurred at the Ellerslie racecourse. Mr. Parrington, who lived at Hardinge's Avenue, Panmure, was driving at an ordinary pace when the horse bolted. The cart overturned, Mr. Parrington falling on his head.

The injured man was attended by Dr. A. McG. Grant, and was taken by a St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, where he died less than an hour after admission. Mr. Parrington, who wa» married, saw service in .the Great War.
