AEROPLANE WRECKED

CRASH ON GOLF LINKS

BOTH OCCUPANTS ESCAPE^

VISITORS TO WELLINGTON Si

[by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] WELLINGTON. Sunday .?!

After stalling on a turn, the Marlborough Aero Club's Moth machine went into a spin and crashed on the Miramar golf links this morning. Slight injuries were received by the pilot, Dr. N. F. Boag, and his passenger,. Mr. T. L. R. King. The machine left Blenheim at 7 a.m. and, after a good crossing- of Cook Strait, arrived over Rongotai aerodrome at 7.40. The pilot was making turns to lose height before landing when the machine lost fly. ing speed. The nose dropped' immediately, and the machine commenced to spin, striking a mound near the 16th tea on the golf links. The machine scooped a hole in the turf, and turned over on its nose, coming to rest with the wheels uppermost. The two occupants walked unaided from the wreckage, the pilot suffering only from bruises. Mr. King, who also received ' bruises, suffered from shock, and was admitted to the Bowen Street private hos-, pital.

The aeroplane was wrecked. The wingi were wrenched off, the front of the fuselage splintered, and the motor almost torn from its mountings, while the propeller blades were snapped off short.

The loss of the machine is a heavy blow to the owners, who are now an aero club without an aeroplane.
