SHOOTING FATALITY
DISCHARGE OF PEA-RIFLE
BULLET LODGES IN BODY
RESIDENT OF MORRINSVILLE

MORRINSVILLE, Sunday A fatal shooting accident occurred this afternoon at Kiwitahi, ten miles from Morrinsville. - !
While on a rabbit-shooting expedition with three companions, Mr. Frederick Lingard, married, aged 27, of Morrinsville, received fatal injuries when Mr. William Williams, one of the four, slipped on a accidentally discharging his pea-rifle. The bullet lodged in Mr. Lingard's body. Then followed an arduous trek of two miles over rough country to the road, the injured man being carried on the shoulders of his companions. Dr. G. Craig, of Morrinsville, was summoned, but Mr. Lingard died before his arrival.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Lingard, deceased was well known in Morrinsville where he was employed in the blacksmith's establishment of Mr. W. Hogg. A wife and two young children survive him. An inquest will be opened to-morrow morning.
