TRAFFIC ON FARMER'S HILL

Sir, —Living as I do, close to Farmer's Hill, Great South Road, may I voice a complaint re the excessive speed permitted to various kinds of motor traffic down this slope to Green Lane. Speedsters treat this section as a racing track because of tho absence on the left side of any streets carrying traffic. Cars reaching the top of this hill, from Market Road direction, cannot see properly what lies below until well up to tho crown. On tho other hand pedestrians, crossing on the lower slope, cannot see a fast approaching car until comparatively close up. Farmer's Ilill lies within the area controlled by the One Tree Hill Borough Council, and tho responsibility of checking dangerous driving at this spot should be recognised by this body. Farmer's Hill.
