"HOME"

Sir, —Home love is where the heart is, and whether we or our parents came from England, Ireland or Scotland, tho old land is the homeland, the motherland. To us of tho second generation who live in such a favoured country, this is the Southland, our land, the best land. I am sure that a time and generation will come which will not bo content with the national title of New Zealandcrs. Not because it is foreign, but becauso it is as meaningless as New Hollander would bo to mo becauso I was born in Australia. Forrest Brown.

Sir, —I am 60 years of age, born at Thames, and never left New Zealand. So I am a true New Zealander. But I have always called England "Home," ahthough I may never set eyes on it. The dear old Homeland! Where do we turn when we want a loan, if not to our Mother Country? I have a family, all married, homes of their own; yet all call my home "Home." So if wo can't servo two masters this proves we can lovo two homes. New Zealander.

Sir, —About the time when the barque Kathleen Hilda used to tic up to the wooden piers at tho foot of Queen Street my father said ho would have a trip "Home" (England). Father had been talking of going "Home" for a trip for a long time, which at last came off. When he returned from his trip "Home" wo young fellows met him on the wharf, and tho first remark ho made to us was, "Thank God, I'm home again." The other day my wife said to me, "Dad, shall we take the children homo for Christmas? (meaning where tho tui sings). When we return home after Christmas mum will say, "What a lovely time we had up home, but isn't it nice to be homo again." England is to me tho Old Homestead. I like to speak of it as "Home." At'CKLANDER.
