STUDY OF SHAKESPEARE

The junior members of the British EmTire Shakespeare Society competed on Saturday evening for prizes offered by the Society for recitations and scones from the plays of Shakespeare. Addressing the, candidates after the performance the 'judge, Mr. .J. M. Clark, spoke encouragingly of their work, which he considered very creditable. He advised them to continue to study Shakespeare, thereby Realising and enjoying more and more, the \vonders of his works. At the close of bis Remarks Mr. Clark recited from Hamlet Polonius* advice to Laertes, and then presented the prizes to the following successful candidates: —Junior recitation,. Dorothy Kellv; senior recitation, Marie Best; acted scene in costume, Betty Cuttle, Winifred Dromgool, Dorothy Kelly, Winnie Tombs and Helen Verry.
