EXTENSIONS AT WAIKERIA

TE AWAMUTU, Saturday
It was reported at the monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu Electric-Power Board yesterday that the revenue earned from sales of current flir September amounted to £2314. For September, 1931, the total revenue was £2394.
The financial statement showed' the power fund account in credit, £4134, the consumers' finance account in credit £253, and the loan account in debit £4300. The total credit in all accounts was £92. One of the new settlers on the Waikeria subdivision applied for power supply, and forwarded the requirements of himself and six other new settlers along the Waikeria Road.
The manager stated that the estimated cost would be about £llOO, and he had informed the applicants that a guarantee would be required. He had also asked the Mental Hospitals Department, which was contemplating supply to its No. 2 camp, that the same guarantee would also be required from that department. The guarantee required would be £22 a consumer.
Authority was given to proceed with the work as soon as the requisite guarantee was given.
WAIHI BEACH RETICULATION
TRANSFER OF THE AREA

TAURANGA, Saturday
A letter was received at a meeting yesterday of the Tauranga Electric-Power Board from the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, regarding the recent conference held at Waihi to decide which power board was best situated to reticulate and take over the whole of the Waihi Beach area.
The Minister stated that the arbitrator's finding was that the Tauranga Electric-Power Board should hand over to the Thames Valley Board that, portion of Waihi Beach settlement at present included in the Tauranga Board's district. As soon as the requisite resolution had been received from each board steps would be taken to prepare the necessary proclamation for the signature of the Governor-General. Mr. R. Sprague, manager of the Thames Valley Board, forwarded a copy of a resolution passed by his board and forwarded to the Minister of Public Works. As his board commenced reticulation on November 7 and proposed to complete it within one month, the engineer asked the Tauranga Board to expedite the passing of the necessary resolution in order that the roquired Onler-in-Coun-cil might bo gazetted. The necessary resolution was passed. The Prime Minister, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, in acknowledging a letter urging a reduction of duty on household refrigerators, said he would be glad to go' into the matter with the Comptroller of Customs.
