PROGRESS OF WORKS ORATIA STREAM BRIDGE Good progress is being made with the construction of the Oratia Stream Bridge at Henderson, on the Aucklantj-HelensviHa main highway, according to a report received from the engineer, Sir. X. F. Faram, nt a meeting of-, the Waitemata County Council yesterday. The engineer also reported that daring the month an experiment with a new process for tho water-proofing of clay batters was carried out on the Titirangi Road main highway. At first sight the experiment did not.appear to have been satisfactory, but it would be necessary to wait until after next winter before passing a final opinion. On, account of representations made in Wellington in connection with the grant for tlie Waitakero Bridge, on the main Wnitakere-West Coast Road, the engineer was hopeful that Government money would he available at an early date. He was at present engaged in the preparation of plans for a reinforced concrete structure to replace the present bridge. A complaint was received from the Auckland Automobile . Association in connection with tfie bad state of the Hobsonville Road, with a request for improve-•> ments in the near future. It was agieed to request, the association to support an aj>plicalion from the council to have the load declared a main highway. ■ • - Advice was received that Mr. n. Watkins. engineer and secretary to tho Auckland and Suburban Drainage will attend the next meeting of the council in connection with the proposed Auckland metropolitan sewage disposal scheme.
