Owing to the persistent rumours that we are underpaying the girls in our Queen Street Shop, the time has come to lay this lie by the heels and publish the facts. While we realise that every big and progressive firm must stand up against all kinds of rumours circulated by interested parties, we feel the false statements about the wages of our Queen Street girls have gone far enough. Our Queen Street shop comes under the Shop Assistants' Award, fixing the wages of our girls at exactly the same rates as of the other retail establishments in the city. Our Wages Books are inspected by the Labour Department, as are the Wages Books of all big firms. The following are the actual wages paid to our Queen Street girls:— 24 GIRLS RECEIVE £2/7/3 or more per week. 20 GIRLS RECEIVE between 16/- and 30/- per week. 6 GIRLS RECEIVE 15/- per week. 3 GIRLS RECEIVE 13/6 per week. 15 GIRLS RECEIVE 12/6 per week. TOTAL GIRLS EMPLOYED, 68 TOTAL WEEKLY WAGES, £lO2 Average Weekly Wage Paid to our Queen Street Girls, 30/FARMERS' TRADING CO. LTD
