FRANCE'S FIGHTING BISHOP
The new Bishop of Meaux, France, Mgr. Lamy, who was consecrated in the Cathedral of Amiens a few weeks ago, was a sergeant in the Great War, and was decorated for heroism. On September 6, 1914, he was wounded six times on the Marne, but refused to leave the field. Under heavy fire he crawled among the wounded, giving them water. 110 received the Military Medal, and, immediately his wounds were healed, he put himself at the head of a group of volunteers engaged in perilous service. For this lie was made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour.
